WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING:

  • Ensure all paperwork, documentation and reporting associated with a repair is completed accurately
  • Provide coaching and leadership to junior technicians to ensure work tasks are performed efficiently and accurately, and that appropriate skills to progress in the trade are developed
  • Ensure all work tasks are performed in accordance with health and safety policies and procedures
  • Perform other duties as required

WHAT YOU’LL NEED IN ORDER TO QUALIFY:

  • 48 + months’ experience performing AME duties
  • Holder of AME license or equivalency
  • Certificate in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering (approved by TCA or the applicable governing body)
  • Good communication skills: fluent written and verbal English is mandatory
  • Basic Computer Skills: word processing, spreadsheet and database programs
  • Specific knowledge of manufacturing, maintenance, repair and modification of aircraft or systems and components in the areas of Structures and/or Composites
  • Ability to ensure that approved standards of quality control are maintained
  • Safe work practices and techniques
  • Basic coaching and leadership skills

Our client, a custom machining and fabrication shop, is looking for a General Machinist (for manual equipment) on a full-time long-term basis. A General Machinist cuts, shapes, and finishes metal to make precision machined parts and components used in all areas of manufacturing.

Location: Woodstock, ON (open to people who want to relocate within Ontario) Compensation: $25-$35/hour + Benefits

Schedule: Straight days 7:00am-3:30pm

Duties may include (but not limited to):

  • Reads and interprets complex engineering drawings and work-process documentation
  • Cuts, shapes, and finishes metal to make precision machined parts and components
  • Sets up and operates manual metal-cutting machines and equipment, including saws, drills, grinders, lathes and mills
  • Fit and assemble components and machine parts to close tolerance
  • Performs work-in-process measuring or checking using specialized and precision tools and equipment

Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years General Machinist work experience in shop that does mostly CUSTOM work
  • Experience with manual milling, lathe machines, and saw machines
  • Experience within a machining and fabrication shop completing the finishing/fabrication
  • 429A General Machinist certification (an asset but not required)
  • Experience will drill presses, surface grinders, tack welding, saw equipment, etc.
  • Experience reading and following complex blueprints and shop drawings
  • Experience with measuring tools such as micrometers, calipers, caliber, gauges, verniers, etc.
  • Excellent math skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a team
  • Willing to pass a criminal background check
  • Ability to provide two good supervisor work references
  • Own reliable transportation
