Brampton Bleach

Welcome to your Quiz for Bleach Awareness.
Read the following Information for Safely Handling Bleach prior to completing the quiz below.

Working with Bleach:
Bleach is a common household cleaner that occasionally needs to be moved, stocked or picked for various orders at various client work sites.   Yet… bleach is also a potential hazard:

If you are required to handle/move bleach in a warehouse, here is how to work safely:
1) Stop once you notice the product has bleach in it.  (Above are several common products with bleach - but always read the labels.)
2) Go to your supervisor or PPE station and ask or get safety glasses and plastic gloves.
*Note that if there is not a PPE station where gloves or glasses are available - talk to your IS2 Representative.
3) Complete the loading or moving of bleach products, boxes or containers.  Work carefully to avoid spilling, dropping or touching any of the bleach.
4) Once you have finished stocking or picking the bleach, remove and return the glasses to your supervisor or PPE station and discard the gloves in the trash or plastic recycle bin if available.
5) Wash your hands thoroughly once you have completed the task and/or finished moving the bleach.

Additional Notes...
• Never touch your eyes or face during or after you have worked with bleach.  Always wash your hands first.
• The main risk of handling bleach is getting it in your eye.  If bleach in your eyes - you will need to flush your eye immediately for 15 minutes with water.
• Alert your IS2 Rep or Supervisor if you have any extreme sensitivities to bleach or other household cleaners.

If Bleach Spills...
If bleach spills or drops on the floor it must be cleaned up by a trained person.
Never just clean up bleach with paper towels, napkins or other paper products.
Inform the supervisor/management team who has been properly trained to clean up such a spill.

*Note that improper handling of bleach or not using proper PPE can and will lead to disciplinary action.
To review the Safety Data Sheet(s) for bleach, the best option is to do a Google search for "Bleach SDS" and add the product name (i.e. "Bleach SDS Clorox").
